Melton Mowbray District Scouts camp site is set in a quiet rural location and is available for outdoor camping or indoor sleeping for up to 36 people (32 bunk beds and 2 separate twin bedrooms each with a curtained window looking onto the bunk beds and ideal for leaders)
About Holwell Pastures
The site is owned and managed by Melton Mowbray & District Scout Council. Groups of young people can enjoy outdoor camping on the large fields or to stay in the large centrally heated and very well equipped Ironstone Lodge sleepover building. The smaller Martyn Turner building offers a meeting room and a well stocked, fully fitted kitchen. This now includes a newly fitted ceramic hob, relacing the old gas hobs (see the "Buildings" tab for details)
The two large meeting rooms and fitted kitchen in Ironstone Lodge are also available for local community groups and organisations to rent for daytime activities during the week.
Outside there are two large fields, one of which contains a smaller area, the 3rd field, which is ideal for smaller camps. Weather permitting, the grass is cut short across the whole site and there are wood stores close to the two camp fire areas. 20 benches are stored next to the wood store in the first field for use by the camp fires. Please ensure they are put back after use.
Holwell Pastures is suitable for young people of all ages from Beaver and Rainbow sleepovers to Scout and Guide camps, Explorer Expeditions and youth, Church, school, college and Duke of Edinburgh camps.
We do accept some private birthday or celebration parties but as this is not a public site we do
not accept individual private bookings. There are no caravan hook-up facilities.
