MELTON MOWBRAY & DISTRICT SCOUT GROUPS
Holwell Pastures camp site is owned and run by Melton Mowbray & District Scouts. The District also oversees the Scout groups in Melton District. This includes organising activities for all groups in the District to take part in, providing support leaders as and when needed and making awards to recognise outstanding work and achievements.
There are five Scout groups in Melton District, all with Scout qualified leaders and supported by assistants, helpers and administrators providing great activities for boys and girls aged six to fourteen years of age in Beaver, Cub and Scout sections. There are also three Explorer Units, linked to Groups but reporting to the District and providing programmes of activities for young people aged fourteen to eighteen. Details of all the groups are shown below and in the links to their websites where applicable. These include meeting days and times, where they meet and contact details.
There is no shortage of young people keen to join Scouts and it is easy to see why. They experience fun, the opportunity to try a wide range of activities and they make lasting friendships with others of similar age. They are rewarded for their effort through the badge system and other awards and as they progress many also appreciate learning life skills which frequently serve them well as adults.
The progress these young people make is only possible through the dedication and help provided by their leaders – and this is where all our groups need YOUR help. Could you be a Scout leader or helper? Nationally there is a significant shortage of Scout leaders and this is no different in Melton Mowbray. All our Groups could do so much more with more leaders and helpers.
