The Martyn Turner Hut
The older unheated wooden meeting room built in the original traditional Scout style is called the Martyn Turner Hut. This is to honour a well liked local Scout leader who did so much to help Scouting in Melton District including supplying and installing the hut kitchen and who sadly died in 2017. The hut has the following features:
- 30ft X 16ft main hall with vinyl flooring,10 Go-Pack tables, 20 Go-Pack benches and 8 older padded chairs.
- Fitted galley kitchen with two electric ovens, ceramic hob (new in 2024), refrigerator and freezer, microwave, hot water boiler and fly zapper
- Toaster and tea urn
- A large selection of pots, pans, food preparation and serving utensils and a wide selection of crockery and cutlery
- A large serving hatch connects the kitchen to the main meeting room.

August 2024 - The photo, left, shows the newly fitted ceramic hob and extractor hob. This replaces the old, worn-out gas hobs.
The Martyn Turner hut is now also connected to the water accumulators installed in Ironstone Lodge when the Lodge was first built. This significantly increases the water pressure, which has been an ongoing issue for many years.
Security
For your added security CCTV cameras are installed outside both the Martyn Turner Hut and the Ironstone Lodge. These constantly monitor and record and can be reviewed on request in the event of an incident.
